 | Solving Clients′needs since 1954 | | In this Issue: | | Say NO to BevMo | | Client of the Month | Sharks Tickets Drawing October Winner | Sharks Tickets Drawing September Winner | | | Customer Alerts: | Recent changes that you should be aware of if you have a policy with one of these companies - GeoVera Earthquake, PersonalUmbrella.com and Allied Insurance.
GeoVera Earthquake - raised premiums as much as 50% for some customers.
PersonalUmbrella.com - raised their rates 20% or more.
Allied Insurance - will be raising their rates 10% for most customers. Allied will also be joining the CEA next year for EQ coverage. This maybe a big rate increase for you.
We try to call everyone that gets more than a 10% increase but its hard to keep up when it happens to 500 policies at once. So, call us immediately to discuss your options. | | | | | Chris Grammar President | | Connie Prince Personal Lines and Office Manager | | 630 Cowper Street Palo Alto, CA 94301 P: 650-328-1000 F: 650-324-1142 Open M-F 8:30-5pm LIC# 0525309 |

| Say NO to BevMo | A BevMo LIQUOR STORE TODAY?
WALMART, COSTCO AND HOME DEPOT to replace the old auto row tomorrow?
Is that what you want?
As a native it seems to me that the wise leaders of Menlo Park have carefully cultivated and protected the charm of its quaint small town business center in response to the desires of its residents.
I call on our city council to acknowledge this fact and disapprove the BevMo mega-business application to join our business community.
The "big is better" chain store craziness has destroyed many small community business centers - so lets stop this step down the slippery slope towards a downtown that has loses its independent entrepreneur character where local people do business and rely on each other.
The same pro arguments of sales tax revenue from non-residents and jobs for non-residents that are argued for BevMo can be made for Wal-Mart or any mega-business.
Is that what you really want?
The planning commission has approved this project and the city council is holding a hearing November 9th at 7pm at City Council Chambers 701 Laurel, Menlo Park. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The guiding principal of local government should be to benefit local voters and tax payers, not mega corporations. BevMo is just the first step towards having our own Wal-Mart, Costco and Home Depot. |
