| Plan Ahead For Long-Term Care | It is difficult for the average healthy adult to contemplate a time when he or she will no longer be able to look after themselves and will need long term care. Slowing down with old age is expected, but not being able to care for oneself is something most people's brains are hardwired to avoid thinking about. But in the last century the average life span has increase by 30 years and is now 77. But that does not mean that the good health you enjoy at 37 will be there with you at 77, or even 67. Health problems can arise at any time, without warning and as one gets older, it is essential to prepare for the possibility of needing long term care. Having the right long term care insurance will ensure that whatever happens, you will be able to live with the maximum comfort and in dignity.
While health care costs are already frighteningly high, they will only increase in the future. Some of the costs are:
• Over $18 per hour for Home Health Aides • Nearly $70,000 to 100,000 per year for a private room in a nursing home • $3,500 to 40,000 per month for one bedroom in an assisted living facility, along with a five figure entrance fee
Call Connie Prince at (650) 328-1000 or email her at connie@alliedbrokers.com to get started on the most cost effective long term care protection. Remember, with the right coverage you will be able to:
• Protect your assets from depletion by the high costs of long term care • Save your family from having to bear the burden of long term care costs • Keep control over where you receive the care you need
Planning for long term care is the best way to ensure that you will have the medical care you need in your old age without having the cost deplete your finances. There are numerous long term care policy options available and we will find the right one for you.

| Blue Shield Gives Back To The Community | Blue Shield of California has made a great commitment to both its customers and the community. The aim is to reduce the burden of health care costs and make them more affordable.
Blue Shield has placed a limit on profits of 2% of revenue. If, at the end of any accounting period the net income is greater than 2%, the excess amount will be given back. The policy applies to income for 2010 a year in which the income exceeded 2% by $180 million. This money will be returned to policy holders and the community. One way in which this will be done is that those customers who pay 100% of their premiums with no contribution from employers will receive a 30% credit on one month's bill.
While this initiative will help customers to pay for their health care coverage, Blue Shield knows that the long term solution lies in health care reform to provide improved coverage and lower costs and it will continue to advocate for this.

| Dittmers To Relocate | Connoisseurs of good food will be pleased to learn that Dittmer's Gourmet Meats & Wurst-Haus will be reopening soon. This Mountain View favorite was forced to close after a fire last January and loyal customers have been waiting anxiously for a reopening. Ever since it opened in 1978 as a German Butcher shop and deli it has been located on San Antonio road. But the new location at El Camino Real between Rengstorff and Escula avenues promises to offer customers a new level of service. According to owner Dittmer Bubert the improvements that are being made and the permits that have to be obtained means that the new premises, next to Kinko's in the Clarkwood shopping center will not be opening till September of October at the earliest.
Till then, lovers of great meat and Dittmer's famous house made sausages will have to be patient. As will the 50 odd employees who are eagerly waiting to get back to work. Yes, it has been a long wait, and there is still more time to be patient for, but the knowledge that Dittmer's will be reopening in a few months is something that will make all Bay Area food lovers happy.
